Tructyre have now relocated their warehouse hub and distribution centre to a new facility based in Eastleigh.
The original Winchester warehouse served Tructyre’s needs for 18 years, however, continuing business growth and the desire to stock a wider range of tyre types and sizes meant a larger premises was required. The new Eastleigh facility boasts 15,000 sq ft of warehouse and office space.
Efficiency and space are maximised thanks to a bespoke narrow aisle racking system capable of storing up to 5,000 commercial vehicle tyres. Articulated forklifts, with a lift range as high as 10 metres, were adapted to make them ideal for fast, safe tyre handling.
Investment in this carefully designed integrated system has already delivered speed of access and working environment improvements, as well as maximising our already impressive stock holding.
The massive task of relocating the heart of Tructyre was project managed by Scott Matthews, Senior Operations Executive, who said “the decision to relocate was thought through hard and discussed between the management team and Glenn Sherwood (Managing Director) but was essential to support the company growth. The complete working environment has improved and operationally we have already seen better efficiencies in our daily activities. I would also like to thank our staff and teams for the efforts and cooperation during the move, and also to all our suppliers involved with getting the new warehouse ready in the allotted timescales”.
Tructyre have been awarded accreditation from Safecontractor for its commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety.
Safecontractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme, which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors.
Employing over 150 people Tructyre are principally involved in the heavy vehicle tyre sector, specialising in the haulage, logistics, waste management and construction industries, and with a £30 million turnover. Tructyre clients include major players such as Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury, STVA and Fowler Welch.
The company's application for Safecontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business.
“Having recently acquired PK Commercial Tyres Ltd we virtually doubled the company in size overnight! As a result we believe that the new enlarged company is now the leading provider of commercial tyre services in the South East. We have also created a new company to deal specifically with our customer’s 'Off Highway' vehicle requirements, such as earthmovers, forklift trucks, etc. which is a specialised area of expertise within our business.
With the acquisition completed we wanted a single accreditation for the whole company. As Investors in People Gold award holders, we are fully committed to the health & safety of our staff and customers, and this accreditation is important to demonstrate our continued commitment in this area.” - Glenn Sherwood (Managing Director).
John Kinge, Technical Director of Safecontractor said, "More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Tructyre has done. The firm's high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.”
